Princess of Wales Turns To Vintage Once More

Today the Prince and Princess of Wales (formerly Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, or just Wills and Kate) visited the Copper Box Arena in London and, as always, the Princess was dressed impeccable, especially for a sports-based engagement. Donning black wide-leg trousers that have become somewhat of a staple for her recently, Kate caught the eyes of fashion watchers with her royal blue blazer.

Kate is known to be a blazer fan, choosing both high-end and high-street options from Alexander McQueen to Zara and we can see why they’re an excellent addition to her royal wardrobe. Today's blazer, however, is a little more special with it being a vintage Chanel piece from 1995! With that characteristic tweed suit energy that everyone knows and loves, this is most certainly a collector's piece and one that many will be jealous of. But, when you’re a royal with a very clever stylist you can snap these sorts of things up rather quickly!

The Princess has been known for years to be thrifty with her clothing choices, often wearing pieces publicly time and time again (yes, something everyone does but we seem to care more when notable figures do it?). She is also a fan of vintage and secondhand items, an amazing way to be more eco-conscious. During the couple’s tour of the Caribean earlier this year Kate showed off her interest in vintage blazers for the first time. To depart Belize she paired a pair of white wide-legged trousers with a red Yves Saint Laurent blazer/jacket that she acquired while she was studying at university in the early noughties. Whilst in Jamaica, she wore a striped dress originally from the 1950s which was purchased via Willow Hilson Vintage

It can be hard to keep up an idyllic royal closet, especially with the eyes of the world looking at every single item you wear, but hopefully, Kate turning to vintage and pre-loved pieces will be the inspiration many others need to start thinking about turning to secondhand themselves.
