Bold Colour Reigns Supreme On The SAG Awards Red Carpet

Award season is well and truly underway, with the 29th annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards taking place in Los Angeles yesterday evening. Ahead of next month’s notorious Academy Awards, the eyes and hearts of film lovers were wholly focused on last night's glittering awards to see who would take home the coveted trophies. Everything Everywhere All At once swooped in to break the record for the most ever wins in one night, and as they should, meanwhile Brendan Fraser cemented his come back to the industry, winning best actor for his acclaimed performance in The Whale.

While there is much to discuss on the actual film side of the event, there is one step that must always take place beforehand. The red carpet! Unsurprisingly, the stars and their stylists dug once more into their wardrobes to bring out their very best ensembles. Thankfully, the necklace drought of recent months seems to be, well, drying up. Adorned on the necks of many an actress, necklaces were a common thread of last night’s special occasion. Zendaya made her comeback to the red carpet in resplendent fashion, donning a pink Valentino gown just a day after wearing a Spring/Summer 2002 Atelier Versace gown to the NAACP Awards.

However, there was one trend that stood out, mostly due to the really rather bright colours that made up these looks! Highlighter yellow has certainly had its time, mostly in the 1980s and a short comeback in the 2010s. It would seem that in 2023, bright yellow has arrived to brighten our days once more, although, as with all trends, in a new iteration. From Claire Foy in custom Prada to Angela Bassett (insert ‘did the thing’ joke here) in Giambattista Valli, here are the best bright and bold looks of the night.
